Lawn Mower Races – Get your riding lawn mowers ready! The Hillbilly Bears are going to be hosting some riding lawn mower races during the festival!
Annual Fun Mixed Slo-pitch Tournament - Please contact Brandi Cooper at the Township of White River at (807) 822-2450 x 0 or via facebook to register your teams! The tournament will start either Friday or Saturday depending on the number of teams registered. Sign up your team today!!

The Michipicoten Rod & Gun Club will be hosting its first summer 2500 .22 Calibre Competition Shoot. This friendly competition will be held starting Wednesday, June 24th, 2015 and will consist of 5 ten-shot targets with .22 calibre rifles. Targets will be shot once per week for five consecutive weeks.
This competition is open to all club members and the general public. Junior shooters are welcome but must display safe firearms handling and shoot under the direct supervision of an adult, parent or guardian who possesses a valid Firearms Licence (POL/PAL). The cost for this competition is $15 for adults, and $10 for youth. The shoot will start at 7:00 pm at the indoor club range located on Highway 17 West.
Participants are required to bring a .22 calibre rifle, eye and hearing protection, and their own ammunition.
The match is set up as follows:
1. Three divisions, men, women, and juniors (under 18 years of age)
2. .22 calibre rifles only – no restrictions on sights or action type
3. Five targets shot per night, 10 shots at each target. All targets will be set at 20-yards in the indoor range.

Calvary Church’s Summer Camp returns!
Registration forms now available in the front entrance of Wawa Calvary Church at 12 Government Road for this year’s Camp Friendship. Camp Friendship will be held from July 6th to 10th, 6 – 8 p.m. for ages 5-10.

Normally people head down to Wawa Beach to cool off. Not so much this Wednesday…
This Wednesday as part of Wawa’s Canada Day Celebrations, there will be a display of race cars and their drivers at Dr. Rose’s Beach. Everyone is invited to come and see some of the race cars, talk to some drivers and sign up as a volunteer for this year’s Northern Nationals Drag Race being held from August 7th to 9th.
If you are interested in volunteering – remember that volunteers receive free admission!
Once again our Wawa Volunteer Firefighters will be spending the day setting up the fireworks at Dr. Rose’s Beach. Weather permitting, the fireworks will be set off at dusk. Come down to the beach to enjoy the fresh air and a watch the wonderful show of fireworks choreographed by the Wawa Volunteer Firefighters at dusk!

Thursday, July 30th from 4:30 – 8:30: Community BBQ at Queen’s Park with games and face painting! Everyone is welcome, there will be a Water Baloon Toss, Piggy Back Races, 3-legged Race, Spoon & Egg Race, Road Hockey (please bring your own stick), Bean Bag Toss, Ring Toss, and Potato Sack Race. Hotdog & Beverage for $2, and Hamburger & Beverage for $3.

The Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre will be closed for Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1st.
The Annual Northern Credit Union Delegate’s Bottle Drive in memory of Pat Rose is tonight. All proceeds from this bottle drive will be donated to the Lady Dunn Health Centre Oncology Unit. Delegates will be collecting from 4 – 7:00 p.m.
If you will not be at home at the time of the bottle drive, and would like have your bottles picked up; please leave them at your door or at the curb.

“Taste Local Love Local” is the theme for this year’s Lady Dunn Health Centre Summer Wine Tasting Event.
It will take place on Saturday, June 27 at the Legion Hall from 8 – 10 p.m. This year’s theme is “Taste Local Love Local” featuring 6 VQA Ontario wines. Live entertainment and appetizers will add to the enjoyment of the evening with a new treat this year, the introduction of a dessert wine accompanied by sweets.
